Current transformers have to be installed on your service conductors ahead of the main breaker, which is licensed electrician work everywhere we operate. Before that, somebody has to walk your panel and decide which loads go under control and in what priority order, because a system controlling the wrong loads saves nothing. And in most cases the savings require moving to your utility's demand rate plan, which is a change you make with the utility, not with us. Shipping you a box skips all three.
So instead of a cart, this page tells you what is included, what can move a quote, and what happens after you raise your hand.
What a standard residential install includes
What can change a quote
Most homes are a standard install. Four things can change the quote: how far your loads sit from the panel, since distant loads are controlled by power line carrier instead of hardwired relays; how many loads you want controlled, which can mean relays beyond the two that ship on the board; panel condition, since an old or full panel sometimes needs work first; and local permitting and inspection fees, which are passed through at cost. Unusual equipment such as multiple heat pumps with staged backup heat or a large EV charging setup can also change the list.
Anything that moves the quote is written down before work begins. No change orders discovered on invoice day.

Qualified customers may be able to install with no money down. Installation may be included at no separate charge, with payments structured against verified savings on your utility bill. Availability depends on your utility, your rate plan, and credit approval.
Financing
Financing is available through our lending partner for qualified buyers. Terms depend on credit approval and your state. Your dealer will walk you through the options during the estimate, and you will see the full terms before you sign anything.
Is your home even a candidate?
Two things have to be true.
Your utility has to offer a demand rate. Not every utility does, and a few have discontinued theirs. If yours has not got one, a demand controller cannot save you money, and we will tell you that on the first call rather than the third.
You need loads worth controlling. Central air conditioning, electric water heating, a heat pump with backup strip heat, an EV charger, an electric dryer, a pool pump. An all-gas home with one small AC unit is usually not a fit.

What happens after you submit
- Someone from Energy Sentry or a certified local dealer contacts you.
- We check your utility and rate plan before anyone drives out. If no demand rate is available to you, the conversation ends there and it costs you nothing.
- Free in-home estimate. A certified installer walks your panel and confirms what the install requires.
- Written quote. Firm, itemized, including anything that deviates from standard.
- Installation. Most residential installs are under an hour of panel work plus commissioning.
- Rate plan switch. The savings do not start until you are on the demand rate, and we tell you exactly what to ask for.
Buying through a dealer
Many installations are handled by certified Energy Sentry dealers. Dealers are trained on installation, commissioning, and configuration, and they carry the same 3-year warranty. If you are an electrical contractor and want to sell and install Energy Sentry, talk to us about becoming a dealer.
